Meet the actors involved in The Keats Project.

Marion Plowright
Director
Marion Plowright has been involved in theatre and arts education for forty years. She has experience teaching all age groups including to degree level and is a freelance director. She is a member of The Society for Teachers of Speech and Drama and has a Masters Degree in Media Culture and Communication. She currently serves as a member of The Dukes Playhouse Company. The Keats Project enables her to pursue her love of poetry and the spoken word.

Emma Nixon
Actor / Associate Director
Emma graduated from LIPA in 2012 with the Acting Prize and First class honors in Acting. She has since been an original member of Smooth Faced Gentlemen all female Shakespeare company, touring Titus Andronicus as Bassianus and Henry V as Henry. Further credits include Ratty in Wind in the Willows tour, various roles in Shakespeare for Breakfast / The Adventure Machine for C Theatre, and Lady Capulet & Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet for Attic Door ltd. Phil Chandler
Actor
Phil Chandler describes himself as a latecomer to the world of acting, having discovered it almost by accident following performing in Much Ado About Nothing in 2015. Since then he has been in demand as an actor in a range of productions from classic plays to new and more experimental work. Most recently he has played Chebutykin in 'Three Sisters', Mercutio/Friar Lawrence in Romeo and Juliet, Christopher Hawthorne in 'Hindle Wakes', and JWM Turner in The Vault project. He has thoroughly enjoyed creating the role of Charles Brown for The Keats Project.
Duncan Lindsay
Actor
Duncan Lindsay has always been passionate about theatre. Throughout school, university, and his working life, it’s always been hard to keep him off the stage. He currently lives in Dalton-in-Furness, where he works as an editor of school study guides. He can regularly be seen on stage at Ulverston’s The Coro, and has performed leading roles in The 39 Steps, All My Sons and The Importance of Being Earnest. He has adored taking on the role of Keats, and has come to feel a real kinship with the poet.
Joanne Leeman
Actor
Joanne Leeman has been acting from a young age and has performed in numerous roles in local Lancashire theatres. She has most recently appeared in and co-directed Hindle Wakes, playing the role of Mrs Hawthorne. Joanne has also appeared in roles such as: Maria in Twelfth Night and Liz Morden in Our Country's Good. She can also be seen in the short film and installation ‘The Vaults’ as a teacher at the National School.
David Leeman
Actor
David Leeman has acted locally for many years, most recently as Nathanial Jeffcote in Hindle Wakes at The Heron Theatre. Other roles include Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night, Kulygin in Three Sisters and Judge Brack in Hedda Gabler. He has enjoyed the opportunity to explore poetry in his role as William Wordsworth.
Nick Haughton
Actor
Nick Haughton teaches in Lancaster, where he lives with his wife and baby daughter. Nick has worked in a variety of theatrical contexts and has recently worked with Marion Plowright on four projects and productions including the role of Ralph Clark in Our Country’s Good and Lord Darlington in Lady Windermere’s Fan. He has loved playing John Keats.
Paul Slater
Actor
Paul is an original member of The Keats Project and has played the role of Charles Brown in Keats: 1818 at The Kings Arms in Burton-in-Kendal. Paul has also appeared in many other productions over the years, including Anton Chekov's 'Three Sisters' as Vershinin, 'Holmes for Christmas' as Sherlock Holmes, 'A Christmas Carol' as Ebenezer Scrooge and The Vaults Project as Jonty Wilson.
